Once Human 2nd Anniversary: Let’s Get Weird in the Dreamy Maelstrom!
Nalcott's Dreamy Maelstrom anniversary event offers chaotic gameplay, new Deviations, and exclusive rewards for dedicated players.
So here we are, two years deep into Nalcott. Two years of getting splattered by Deviants, building bases that somehow look worse than the apocalypse itself, and still not knowing what half the mods actually do. Yet, somehow, I’m still here — and apparently, so are you. The second anniversary celebration, dubbed "Dreamy Maelstrom," kicks off July 9 and runs until July 30, 2026. And honestly? It’s a buffet of chaos that makes my sleep-deprived brain tingle with excitement. Let’s break down this glorious mess, shall we?

Before the actual event even starts, the devs are teasing us with a warm-up. From July 1 to July 9, there’s a pre-registration campaign. You log in to the website, pick a character (choose wisely, no take-backs!), and then watch as the whole server collectively pushes milestones. The more people who join, the fatter the goodies. You can invite friends, earn lucky draws, and maybe, just maybe, snag a "Stardust Secret Crate · S13 (Legendary)". Do you trust your pals enough to drag them into this madness? I sure do, because misery loves company. Reaching server-wide milestones unlocks the anniversary-limited "Crimson Insight" cosmetic, plus some flashy namecards. It’s like a group project where everyone actually has to contribute, except the reward is a shiny new skin instead of a passing grade.
Now, who’s joining the monster squad? Three new Deviations strut onto the scene like they own the place.
-
Crimson Insight - ZapCam: A Morphed ZapCam decked out in red. Same reliable zaps, but now 200% more likely to be seen in your kill cam. Get it through event activities.
-
Mr. Wish - Penguin Hope: A penguin. A literal penguin that crossed dimensions via a Rift Space. It was adopted in the real world, but Nalcott turned it into a demolition expert. I’m not sure if I should hug it or run from it.
-
Behemoth: A brand-new riding Deviation. Yes, you can ride it. If you’ve ever wanted to charge through mutants on a colossal beast, this is your chance.

And then there’s the main course: Dreamy Rift. This is the combat gameplay that will make you feel like a god or a total clown, depending on your mod luck. You team up with 1–4 players, jump into an independent Rift battlefield, and face waves of enemies. Every two waves, you pick an enhancement from three random mods. Stack these bad boys, and your weapon might gain overclock effects — think omnidirectional shrapnel, instant kills at low health, or infinite bounces. I once wiped a wave just by looking in their general direction. Is it balanced? Absolutely not. Is it fun? You bet.
Hard mode adds meteorites, black rain, and fog, because why not? Clear hard mode and you can push endless waves to flex on the leaderboard. Enemy drops include random Deviations, which you can store in a securement box and withdraw up to 10 during the event. You get two full-reward attempts per day, accumulating up to 10 per week. After that, you still get guaranteed rewards, so even on a bad day you don’t walk away empty-handed.

But wait, there’s more! A check-in event because who doesn’t like free stuff? Log in daily, tick the box, and grab a Legendary blueprint for the QBJ97 – "Fiery Trees and Silver Flowers". It triggers Unstable Bomber and extra missiles. Yes, you can now blow things up even more stylishly. You also get Lightforge Ingots, a neon furniture formula, and Mr. Wish – Penguin Hope. It’s like a daily birthday present, and everyone knows birthdays are just mandatory treat-receiving days.

Next up, Dreamy Wave. This is a reward track where you earn "Tuning Attempts" by being active. Spend attempts to receive wave signals of quality: Noise, Basic, or Overclock. Higher quality gives more progress points. You can gamble for a better signal or settle and claim the crate. Total progress of 180 lands you the grand prize: the "Heartlit Rain Set", avatar frame, Shiny Mods, and a whole lot of Starchrom. It’s a slot machine that respects your time — sort of.

Remember friends? They’re useful again. You get 3 "Rift Eggs" to incubate by inviting new or returning players and being active together. Eggs hatch in sequence, each reward shinier than the last — weapon skin "Phantom Thief Bow", Deviation selection box, Lightforge Ingots, Shiny Mods. It’s like a pet rock with better loot.

Then we have the Wish Wheel. Gather lottery tickets from Dreamy Rift and RaidZone tasks. Every 15 spins guarantees a cosmetic. Prizes include a "Rosetta Protocol" furniture pack, vehicle skin "Trendy", and weapon skins from the "Stacked Realm" series. The wheel tempts me like a carnival siren. Will I spend way too many tickets for a cosmetic I’ll use twice? Probably.

On the social side, the hourly Resonance event turns a specific island into a dance floor from 10:00–12:00 and 19:00–23:00. You dance, the venue’s popularity rises, and everyone claims daily rewards like Deviations, food combos, and lottery tickets. It’s awkward, it’s chaotic, and I love it. Are we surviving an apocalypse or filming a music video? Both.

On July 10, keep your eyes peeled for Lucky Drops from 20:00 to 22:00. Every 15 minutes, random online players get 10 Lightforge Ingots. Server-wide marquees will broadcast the names, so you can experience either glorious victory or burning envy. Also, an anniversary code from social media grants an Epic Stardust Secret Crate, 1,000 Starchrom, and a random Mr. Wish – Penguin Hope. Pro tip: if you forget to log in, you’ll be that person crying in the corner.
Returning players get a "Reunion Gift" with Starchrom scaled by absence time, a self-select legendary blueprint (three weapon sets), a Deviation box, and pioneer supplies. New Metas receive a starter pack with similar goodies. Honestly, if you’ve ever thought about starting Once Human, this is the moment. The stars (and the devs) have aligned.
So there you have it. A second anniversary packed with mutant slaughter, dancing penguins, gambling, and free explosives. The Dreamy Maelstrom is nigh, and I’ll be there, probably crashing my Behemoth into a wall while my ZapCam watches in judgment. See you in Nalcott — don’t forget your dancing shoes.
